What do you expect of a JP?
A JP will write a ceremony incorporating your ideas, officiate at your wedding, complete and return your marriage license as required by Massachusetts.

You should know the date of your marriage and the location. These may be flexible, but are guides to the availability of the JP.

- Approximately how many guests?
- Do you want a brief ceremony just to be legally married or are you planning for a longer ceremony with options?
- Do you want to incorporate religious or family customs?
- Will the JP incorporate those customs or will a guest help with those?
- Will you write all or part of the ceremony or will the JP write a personalized ceremony for you?
- Will you write your own vows?
- Will you want family who cannot be with you remembered?
- Will friends or family participate in the ceremony?
- Will you exchange rings?
- Will you require a translator?
Why am I a Justice of the Peace
As a Justice of the Peace, I help couples move from a bond of friendship to a legal bond of marriage. I meet interesting people I would not have met any other way. Although most couples are from United States of America, I've learned about Ghana, Liberia, Russia, Brazil, Equador and more from couples marrying in Massachusetts. My life has been varied, but more than 30 years as a JP have been years I'll never forget.
