Affordable ideas (tell me yours)

A multi thousand dollar gown is beautiful.  So is a car or down paymwnt on a house.  Check second hand and thrift stores.    You may have to spend $200 to $300  on cleaning, but still worthwhile.  Don't forget relatives  who may have a gown stored in a closet.  

Visit several locations for pricing and ideas.  Often restaurants have rooms just for special events.   Your favorite restaurant may be willing to cater a meal at your location.  Potluck in some families is expected as a way to show off cooking styles.

Many parks are available and may have gazebos.  Check with the city or town.

This is difficult.  Unless you have famiy or friends with big houses, hotels are expensive.  Try small guest houses or Air B&B.  If several guests will need hotel reservatuons, perhaps you will be able to reserve a block of rooms at a slightly reduced rate.

Include reasonably priced gifts everyone can afford.  No one needs a $500 spatula.  Or suggest several guests you know well, share the cost of an idea.  Don't be demandiing.   Money is always welcome.  

Thrift stores have beautiful vases and containers often donated by a just married couple.  Flowers purchased at a supermarket  are long lasting.  Try craft stores for ideas.  

Be creative 

Let someone be your coordinator to answer last minute travel, reservation, and other questions.  They will be less swayed by pressure  to bring extra children or friends. That person can be responsible for  wheelchairs and other needs.You don't need to personally solve last minute problems.
